Oliver Waespi wurde 1971 in Zürich geboren. Nach dem Studium der klassischen Gitarre und der Posaune an der allgemeinen Abteilung des Konservatoriums in Winterthur bildete er sich autodidaktisch in den Fächern Harmonielehre, Formenlehre, Kontrapunkt, Instrumentation, Solfège und Musikgeschichte aus. Seit Sommer 1999 ist er Student in der Kompositionsklasse am Konservatorium in Zürich. Schon sehr früh begann er Stücke für Chor, sinfonisches Orchester, Orgel, Klavier und Gitarre zu komponieren. In jüngster Zeit schreibt er vornehmlich für Blasorchester. Einige seiner Werke wurden anlässlich von Kompositionswettbewerben ausgezeichnet.
