Jackson Anderson was born in Oklahoma City in 1994. The son of Jacki McFarland and Jay Anderson, he grew up in Guymon, Oklahoma and later relocated to Enid, Oklahoma. In 2012 he graduated with honors from Chisholm High School. Pursuing a degree in instrumental music education, Jackson is currently attending Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) in Weatherford, Oklahoma. He is a member of the SWOSU chapters of the Collegiate National Association for Music Educators and the Collegiate Oklahoma Music Teacher Association. He also holds membership in the “Mighty” Tau Phi chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He is also a member of the University’s Symphonic Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band, and Southwestern Singers, one of the auditioned vocal ensembles. He maintains a busy schedule of practicing, accompanying, and of course composing while keeping up with his schoolwork.In his performing life, Jackson is proficient in piano, voice, and most brass, primarily horn. A member of Garland Road Baptist Church in Enid, he previously served as pianist. He is now serving as pianist/keyboardist at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Weatherford. He also actively performs with the barbershop quartet The Chordinators, of which he sings lead. Jackson is in high demand to perform at dinners, banquets, and events throughout the state of Oklahoma. He is a frequent singer of the National Anthem at the Oklahoma City Redhawks baseball games and for many other events throughout the state.Mr. Anderson has been composing and arranging since the 7th grade while attending Guymon Central Junior High. His concert and marching band pieces have been performed by his high school band, the Chisholm Stampede. His solo and ensemble pieces, including piano solos, woodwind ensembles, and many instrumental solos, have been performed at District and State contests, and many music festivals. His religious works have been premiered at his home church in Guymon. He accredits his musical successes to his two grandmothers who have inspired him personally and musically through their piano, vocal, and composition skills, as well as their unshakeable faith. While not attending college, Jackson lives in Enid with his mother, stepfather, and three younger siblings.
