Auteur Johann Sebastian BACH (1685-1750)
Commentaire :
Arbitre suprême et législateur de la musique, un maître de stature comparable à Aristote pour la philosophie ou Léonard de Vinci pour les beaux-arts. Né à Eisenach le 21 mars , baptisé le 23, mort à Leipzig le 28 juillet 1750. Membre d'une illustre famille de musiciens qui se sont illustrés à divers titres comme interprètes, compositeurs et pédagogues. La profusion de musiciens au sein d'une même famille étaye l'idée selon laquelle la musique serait une faculté héréditaire, certaines unités cellulaires subliminales formant le noyau de la musicalité. Le mot "Bach" lui-même signifie "ruisseau" en allemand ; la phrase selon laquelle Jean-Sébastien Bach n'était pas seulement un ruisseau, mais un océan de musique met en valeur l'importance de ce musicien. Toutefois, malgré le côté phénoménal de sa personnalité , Jean-Sébastien Bach n'a pas vécu comme un isolé, perdu dans la splendeur de son génie, à l'écart du Zeitgeist, l'esprit de son temps. A l'image d'Aristote, qui n'était pas un philisophe abstrait mais aussi un éducateur (il a eu Alexandre le Grand comme élève) ou de Léonard de Vinci qui n'était pas seulement un portraitiste mais aussi un inventeur à l'esprit pratique, Bach était un mentor pour les jeunes étudiants, un maître de l'orgue et de la pédagogie. Sa vie s'est déroulée aux confins de sa Thuringe natale où il a exercé comme professeur et comme compositeur, écrivant des oeuvres destinées à l'exécution immédiate, à l'Eglise ou à l'Ecole.
