Filip Ceunen was born on 2 september 1983 in Hasselt (Belgium). At the age of 8 he started his musical studies at the Academy for Word, Music & Dance in Beringen. Highlights there were a participation at the 'Jong Tenuto' for organ (1999) where he was runner-up and a concert in the church of Spa (Belgium) recorded by Radio Klara (1999).After the academy he continued his studies at the 'Lemmensinstituut' in Leuven where he studies the organ with Mr. Luc Ponet & Mr. Luk Bastiaens and composition with Mr. Jan van der Roost. Here he achieved a 'first price' solfege and harmony.At this moment he studies at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels where he follows composition with Mr. Jan Van Landeghem and the trombone with Bart Van Nieuwenhuyze. Here he achieved a 'first price' counterpoint.Filip also took part at some 'Masterclasses' composition with Mr. Jan Van Landeghem (professor composition at the "Royal Conservatory of Brussels"), Mr. Clarence Mac Wai Chu (professor composition at "The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts"), Mr. Stefano Gervasoni (professor composition aan "Le Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris"), Mr. Gian Paolo Luppi (professor composition at the "Conservatorio Giovan Battista Martini in Bologna") and Mr. Claude Ledoux (professor composition at "L'École Supérieure des Arts, Conservatoire de Mons").As a tromboneplayer Filip is active as the first trombone by the 'Limburgish Orchestra Youth & Music' and as a free-lance tromboneplayer in several symphonic orchestras.He also took part at a 'Masterclass' with Mr. Joseph Alessi (professor trombone at the 'faculty of The Juilliard School' in New York and first trombone in the 'New York Philharmonic').In 2009 Filip got a contract with Music Publisher Beriato.
