Compositeur polyvalent et très productif, Michael Praetorius est connu pour ses pièces de danse, ses chants sacrés, et sa musique de Noël et de l'Avent. Il est également l'auteur d'un traité théorique "Syntagma Musicum" qui figure parmi les ouvrages de référence les plus importants dans le domaine de la musique et de l'instrumentation au début du 17ème siècle. Il a occupé les fonctions de chef d'orchestre à la cour de Wollfenbüttel et était également très demandé à Dresde et ailleurs.Being a versatile and very productive composer, Michael Praetorius is known for his dance pieces, hymns, and Christmas and Advent music. He is also the author of a theoretical treaty "Syntagma Musicum" which belongs to the most significant works of reference in the field of music and instrumentation at the beginning of the 17th century. He occupied the functions of conductor at the court of Wollfenbüttel and also was very active in Dresden and elsewhere.Polyvalenter und sehr produktiver Komponist, Michael Praetorius ist für seine Tanzstücke, seine gekrönten Kanten und seine Musik von Weihnachten und Advent bekannt. Er ist ebenfalls der Autor eines theoretischen Vertrages "Syntagma Musicum", der zu den wichtigsten Nachschlagewerken in den Bereichen der Musik und der Instrumentierung Anfang des 17. Jahrhunderts zählt. Er hat die Funktionen des Orchesterchefs im Hof von Wollfenbüttel besetzt und arbeitete ebenfalls in Dresden und in der Umgebung.
